Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx
Best times to travel
The best time to travel to Egypt is typically during the cooler months, which fall between October and April. During this time, the weather is a lot nicer for exploring the ancient monuments and enjoying the outdoors.
However, keep in mind that peak tourist season coincides with this time frame, so popular attractions may be more crowded.
If you prefer fewer crowds, consider traveling during the shoulder seasons of late spring (May and June) or early fall (September), when the weather is still pleasant but tourist numbers are lower.
If you’re game, visiting during the hot summer months (July and August) is possible, however temperatures can soar, especially in the desert, making the outdoors cooking!
Visa
You will most likely require a visa for Egypt, however this is always dependent on the passport you carry. (please research this yourself) When I was last there (2023) I just grabbed the Visa on arrival at the airport for 25USD cash.
Arrival Information
Depending which airport you arrive into, it may just be easier to book a transfer to your first hotel which will take you directly there. This saves the hassle of bartering with the local taxi drivers and you won’t get swindled and taken to their “friends hotels”.
As for a SIM for Egypt, it’s kind of a pain, you need to go to the local cell provider such as Vodafone with your passport and set it all up.I just used Airalo’s Esims for Egypt.

What to pack
When packing for a trip to Egypt, it's essential to consider the climate and conservative dress for their culture.
1. Lightweight and breathable clothing suitable for hot weather, such as cotton shirts, shorts, skirts, and lightweight pants. Loose-fitting clothing can help keep you cool and protect you from that hot sun.
2. Modest clothing! modest clothing is respectful, especially when visiting religious sites or rural areas. Bring long pants, maxi skirts, and tops that cover your shoulders and chest.
3. As always! Sun protection! Egypt is cookin! Pack sunscreen with a high SPF, sunglasses, and a wide-brimmed hat to protect yourself from the strong Egyptian sun. Lip balm with SPF is also recommended.
Hot tip! You can buy yourself some pretty cool wide brim Egypt hats when you’re there for a couple of bucks.
4. Travel adapter - Egypt uses the European standard plug (Type C and F).
5. Medications and basic First Aid Kit: Pack any necessary medications, along with a basic first aid kit for minor injuries or ailments. I always have the basic bandaids, antiseptic cream, paracetamol and some gastro medication! I’ve used gastro medication in Egypt before… Just sayin!
6. Grab some cash out when you’re there, Egypt is still very cash based especially in the Bazaars.
7. Day pack! Always useful to hold your camera and water bottle in. Plus any sssnacks for the big days of exploring!
8. Swimwear! Go for a dip in the Nile down in Aswan on your sunset Felucca ride or! Go spend a week in Dahab, snorkeling, freediving or scuba diving! - Some of the best diving in the world is here!

Hotel and Hostel Recommendations
Holiday Inn Cairo - some of the fastest wifi in Egypt and also a great Sports bar for a beer and to watch the sunset.
Giza Pyramids View Inn - The classic Pyramid view from your hotel room, you can eat breakfast on the roof and stare at the Pyramids. Good for a night or two - keep in mind this is a very basic hotel apart from the view.
Nefertiti Hotel Luxor - Cool hotel right in the heart of Luxor, basic amenities, however one of the best restaurants in Luxor is on the roof though (be sure to book)
Aswan Nile Palace, Aswan - A little out of town but such a stunning view of the Nile and the host is amazing.
Basma Hotel Aswan - A little close to town, has everything you need and it’s more of a hotel compared to the Nile Palace above.
